Faculty of Medicine Wins Presidential Merit Award for Environmental Sustainability

The Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, has been awarded a Merit Award of Commendation in the Environmentally Friendly Government Institution category at the Presidential Environmental Awards 2025, held on 23 October 2025 at the BMICH. The ceremony was organized by the Central Environmental Authority of the Ministry of Environment.

This prestigious national recognition highlights the Faculty’s continued commitment to environmental sustainability and green practices across all its operations.

The leadership of the Green Practices Committee, together with the dedicated contributions of students, academic, executive, and non-academic staff, has been instrumental in achieving this milestone. The Faculty extends its heartfelt appreciation to everyone who played a part in this success. The support received by the Centre for Sustainable Solutions, University of Kelaniya, in this achievement is commendable.

This award serves as a strong encouragement to further strengthen the Faculty’s green initiatives, ensuring a healthier and more sustainable environment for future generations.
