Celebrating Bhutan’s 117th National Day at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya
The Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, proudly celebrated Bhutan’s 117th National Day in a charming and dignified ceremony. This event marked the strong bond between the Faculty and Bhutan, a relationship that has flourished for over 15 years.
Each year, numerous Bhutanese students enroll at the Faculty to study medicine on a fee-levying basis through a government-to-government MoU. This collaboration has fostered enduring social and cultural ties between Sri Lanka and Bhutan. The Faculty takes immense pride in contributing to Bhutan’s healthcare system by producing skilled doctors who enhance health services and strengthen the nation's healthcare infrastructure.
The celebration was attended by the Dean, academic and non-academic staff, Bhutanese students, and Sri Lankan students. Both Bhutanese and Sri Lankan students expressed their joy and appreciation for this meaningful gesture, which highlighted the shared values and mutual respect between the two nations.
This event stands as a testament to the Faculty’s commitment to fostering international collaborations and cultural exchange, creating a global community of healthcare professionals.
