The Young Researchers’ Symposium 2023

The Young Researchers’ Symposium is an annual research day organized by the Departments of Public Health, Medical Education and Disability Studies. It creates a platform for MBBS and SHS students of the Faculty of Medicine to showcase their research work.
Although the Young Researchers’ symposium was held annually since its inception in 2005, it was disrupted by the restrictions that came with COVID-19. After a break of few years, the Young Researchers’ symposium was held in 2023 on the 12th of May from 9 am to 4 pm at the Main auditorium Faculty of Medicine.
A total of 10 oral presentations and 32 poster presentations were presented by MBBS and SHS students. Three captivating and timely plenary sessions were conducted by Prof. Pramodh Chandrasinghe (Shape the thinking: A journey through research), Dr. Supun Wijesinghe (Research in Practice: COVID-19 to the economic crisis) and Mr Jasan Srother (Covering Climate Change; lens on disability),
Best oral presentation was awarded for each session and the six best poster presentations will be awarded Deans Award of Excellence and merit. The symposium was financially supported by the Research Council, University of Kelaniya and the Faculty of Medicine
