“Senehasa”: Community Service Programme
“Senehasa”: Community Service Programme organized by the Cultural Center of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya was successfully conducted on 28th of September 2018 at the faculty premises. The objective of this event was to enhance the psychological well-being of pregnant mothers by listening to soothing music.
Senior Professor P.S. Wijesinghe, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine was the chief guest of the event. In addition, the event was graced by the consultant psychiatrist Dr. Upali Peris, Senior Assistant Registrar Ms. Erandi Wagalth, Assistant Bursar Ms. Sanjeewani Wijesinghe, the Officer-in-Charge of the cultural center Mr. K. A.K. Kodithuwakku, Members of the Faculty of Medicine, doctors and midwives from MOH office. Moreover, 75 pregnant mothers were present in the event along with their partners.
The contributions for the event were given by all the departments of the faculty, Maliban Biscuit Manufactories Limited, Hemas Hospital (Wattala), People’s bank (Ragama branch) and Ministry of Cultural Affairs. The Welfare Society of Faculty of Medicine supported tremendously in organizing the event successfully.
Performed in the function was the orchestra of Ministry of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs lead by Mr. Sisira Kumara Mahagama.
