Visit of an Academic Delegation from Mahidol University, Thailand

A distinguished academic delegation from Mahidol University, Thailand, led by President Prof. Piyamirt Sritara (M.D.), the President, recently visited the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Kelaniya. Acting on the Vice Chancellor's guidance, the delegation engaged with representatives from Public Health and Parasitology, headed by the Dean of Medicine.

The discussions centered on enhancing the impact on the public and academia in both countries through exchange and fellowship programs, thereby fostering collaborative research and scientific advancements, especially in the areas of public health and tropical medicine. The delegation also toured the Colombo North Teaching Hospital to gain insights into Sri Lanka's curative healthcare delivery. Both institutions verbally agreed to develop a work plan to advance their shared objectives of student and academic exchange and joint research.

Additionally, the delegation expressed interest in expanding collaborations beyond medicine and healthcare to include humanities, social sciences, management, and business studies. The university will work on expanding the collaboration in the near future.
