Prof. Nilmini Silva Gunawardene receives the SOMA Lifetime Achievement Award - 2023
Prof. Nilmini Silva Gunawardene, Senior Professor in the Molecular Medicine Unit of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, has received the ‘SOMA Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Society of Medical Arthropodology, India. This award has been conferred upon Prof. Gunawardene at the 16th International Conference on Medical Arthropodology which was recently concluded at Calicut, Kerala, India.
During this event, she was recognized as an extraordinary medical entomologist, academician and a mentor for the outstanding contributions she has made towards mosquito control through genetic manipulation and to the science of Medical Entomology, especially through guiding and mentoring a large number of students.
