Senior Professor Anuruddhi Edirisinghe delivered a Plenary Lecture at the 23rd Triennial Meeting of the International Association of Forensic Sciences, (IAFS 2023) Sydney, in November 2023 and appointed as the President of the International Association of Clinical Forensic Medicine (IACFM) for 2023-2026

Senior Professor P. Anuruddhi S. Edirisinghe, Cadre Chair, Forensic Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine was invited to deliver a plenary Lecture at IAFS 2023, Sydney the world largest Forensic Conference. Her plenary was titled as ‘Gender Based Violence the Shadow Pandemic ‘Where to from Here’ The Challenges in Giving Services in Post-pandemic & Global Economic Recession’. The Conference was held at the International Convention Center, Sydney with a participation of over 1,700 experts from Forensic Medicine, Forensic Sciences, Crime Investigation and Law experts from 74 countries from 19^th to 24^th November.  During the conference she participated as a panelist in the discussion of ‘Where to from here in Clinical Forensic Medicine’ too.

At the same meeting she was appointed as the President of the International Association of Clinical Forensic Medicine (IACFM) for three years (2023-2026). IACFM (formally the World Police Medical Officers) is a non-political organisation whose aim is to encourage international collaboration in clinical forensic medicine, particularly for forensic physicians working with law enforcement agencies from around the world. Professor Edirisinghe was the first female to hold this post and first forensic physician from South East Asia to hold the presidency. She will be the 12^th President of this prestigious association.  Congratulations to Professor Edirisinghe and we consider it as a recognition of her work as well as recognition of clinical forensic medical services in Sri Lanka.
