Inter Medical Faculty Quiz Conducted Among Medical Undergraduates to commemorate WAAW Week 2023

In parallel to the World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (WAAW) 2023, which is declared from 18^th to 24^th November 2023, the Sri Lanka College of Microbiologists (SLCM) together with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) conducted an inter-faculty quiz among students from eleven medical faculties in the country on 15^th of November 2023. The quiz was held online via Kahoot App facilitated by WHO among teams of medical students from each faculty. The quiz consisted of 5 rounds with 40 questions in total, which mainly encompassed the themes of antimicrobial resistance, rational prescribing of antimicrobials and “One-Health” concept. Five students participated from each university. The team participated from Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya won the first place in this quiz. The second and the third places won by University of Colombo and General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University respectively.

 

The wining team participated from the Faculty of Medicine (students from batch 30), University of Kelaniya:

They were awarded with certificates and a cash prize of LKR50000.00 at the national event held at The Water’s Edge on 22^nd of November 2023.
