Being a leading Green University in the country and as a medical institution, the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, understands its social responsibility in safeguarding the food security and nutritional well-being of its community. The Green Practices Committee together with the Students Green Society, Alumni Association and Centre for Sustainability Solutions, planned to undertake a vegetable gardening project at the faculty premises. The aim of this project is to bring the faculty community together to face the economic crisis also to inculcate the attitudes of social responsibility and volunteerism.

As a part of this project, a "shramadana" program was held on 7th September with the support of faculty staff members to clean the premises.
