Suicide and self-harm

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT

Suicide is one of the leading causes of death globally, with this trend being more pronounced in younger people and low and middle-income countries (LMIC). According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), over 77% of suicide deaths worldwide occur in LMIC. Suicide is thus considered a global public health concern.
A group of psychiatrists, mainly from LMIC, analyse and publish data about the trends and associated factors related to suicidal and self-harm behaviour. Emphasise is on suicidal behaviour among people in LMIC, identification, and prevention strategies.
