Scene of crime officers training programme (SOCO)

A capacity-building training program was conducted for the 31st batch of Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) of the police academy, Kalutara, at the faculty of medicine, University of Kelaniya, from the 29th of September to the 3rd of October 2025. The program was organized by the Department of Forensic Medicine in collaboration with the office of the Judicial Medical Office (JMO), Ragama. The program included lectures on injury interpretation, sample collection, forensic photography, and personal safety, along with hands-on training in post-mortem examination, sample handling, and fingerprinting. Participants also visited the Molecular Medicine Laboratory for observation and engaged in a practical session on Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) at the skills laboratory
