Department of Medical Education Hosts Interactive Sessions on Health Promotion and Wellness
The Department of Medical Education, Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, organized two energetic and interactive sessions on 17th August 2025 at Vistaara Hall. These sessions were conducted by two distinguished public health experts from the Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University, Thailand—Prof. Dr. Supa Pengpid and Prof. Dr. Orawan Kaewboonchoo.
The Special CPD Seminar on “Embedding Health Promotion and Wellness into Everyday Work Life,” designed for academic and non-academic staff, highlighted practical approaches to incorporating wellness into professional routines. This was followed by a Lunch Time Talk on “Move & Eat Well: A Mindful Break for Better Energy & Mood,” which brought together staff and students for a hands-on, engaging discussion on healthy lifestyle practices.
Both sessions emphasized the importance of integrating health promotion into daily life. With interactive activities and practical examples, the resource persons encouraged participants to actively engage, reflect, and apply wellness strategies to improve productivity, resilience, and overall well-being.
The department was privileged to host two internationally recognized experts. Prof. Supa Pengpid, Distinguished Professor in Health Education & Behavioral Sciences, is globally renowned for her research in health promotion, health behavior, and psychosocial determinants of health. She also serves as Deputy Dean for Corporate Relations & Partnerships at Mahidol University. Prof. Orawan Kaewboonchoo, Professor of Public Health Nursing and Deputy Dean for International Relations, is an authority in occupational health, workplace stress, and health promotion, with extensive contributions to international collaborations and postgraduate training.
