HDSU successfully completed the Certificate Course in Information Technology - Batch 05
A group of 30 students recently completed the Certificate Course in Information Technology, organized by the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Kelaniya. The 10-week training program ran from August 3rd to October 12th, 2024, and was conducted on Saturdays by the Health Data Science Unit (HDSU) of the Faculty of Medicine.
This course aims to broaden ICT knowledge across various sectors of society, including working professionals and students in higher education, while also improving the employability of school leavers in the ICT field. It primarily emphasizes practical training in MS Office applications, especially MS Word and MS Excel, to boost confidence in using ICT for everyday tasks.
The course attracted students largely because it was linked to a reputable academic institution, had skillful ICT staff, offered practical training in MS Office applications, and had an affordable fee. The Health Data Science Unit (HDSU) also helped the University of Kelaniya generate additional income by utilizing its well-equipped computer labs on weekends. Throughout the program, students showed strong enthusiasm for improving their computer skills. It is expected that participants gain valuable knowledge, skills, and confidence in ICT.
