Green World Explorer Photographic Competition 2021 Green Practice Committee
Faculty of Medicine Ragama is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Parallel to this the Green Practice Committee of the faculty arranged a photographic competition open to students of the faculty of medicine, the staff of the faculty of medicine, and the extended faculty at the Teaching Hospital of Ragama.
The competition was held on the environmental day of the celebration calendar- 06th June 2021 with the following categories under the theme of “Green World Explorer”.

There was great enthusiasm for the event and many beautiful photographs were uploaded to the contest site. The judges had a hard time selecting the best out of the lot to be placed at the winning positions. The enthusiasm shown by the medical students was astonishing, which must have given them a relaxing experience amid the Covid-19 pandemic with seemingly endless lockdowns at that time.
More than 100 photographs were submitted by the medical students.
The prize-giving ceremony was held on 02nd December 2021, Professor H J Hewavisenthi, Dean Faculty of Medicine awarded the cash prizes and the certificates to the winners, adhering to strict health guidelines.
The Idea of the competition came from Prof. Nirmala Perera, chairperson Green Practice Committee. The extension to the extended faculty was suggested by Dr. Sagarie Ransinghe, consultant anesthetist, representative of the extended faculty at the faculty board.
The event and the cash prizes were organized by Dr. Kushan Medagoda.
