Raising Kids with Special Needs – Parent Support Group of Ayati
The Raising Kids with Special Needs – Parent Support Group of Ragama Ayati is a compassionate community of parents, caregivers, and professionals dedicated to supporting families raising children with disabilities. Established in 2024, this parent-led initiative provides a safe and nurturing space where families can connect, share experiences, and grow stronger together.
The group focuses on:
Regular meetings at the Ayati Centre bring together parents, therapists, consultants, and experts who work collectively to drive meaningful change for families of children with special needs in Sri Lanka. At the heart of this initiative lies the belief that unity and shared strength create a hopeful, inclusive future for our children.
Community Events and Support
In addition to its regular meetings, the group also organizes meaningful community events aimed at uplifting parents. One of the most heartfelt initiatives is the Parents' Day Outs, recently held. This gathering created a warm, judgment-free space where parents could relax, connect, and enjoy a day filled with laughter, games, and togetherness.
A special acknowledgment goes to the Hemas Outreach Foundation, a key supporter since the beginning of this journey. Their continuous sponsorship, donations, and unwavering commitment have played a vital role in empowering families and making events like the Parents’ Day Out possible. The group is deeply grateful for their generosity and partnership.
We are excited to introduce our new Public Engagement Portal, where you can actively share your experiences, insights, and suggestions to help shape research and improve care. Your input plays a vital role in guiding our efforts to create meaningful change.
