RESEARCH ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT

The colorectal surgery research group has been publishing research since the late 1990’s from North Colombo and has the largest database of colorectal cancer patients (over 1000) in the country. The main interest of the group is focused on colorectal cancer clinical data. Currently the database has been digitalised with real time updating facility and also a University grant has been approved for further improvement. The group has studied the epidemiology, tumour related characteristics and survival of patients with colorectal cancer in the North Colombo region. The group lead by the department of Surgery collaborates with the Department of Pathology and the Health data science unit. The research group has won several national accolades at academic sessions for their work.
