World Down Syndrome Day - 2021
A joint venture between Ayati and Hemas outreach foundation organized the World Down Syndrome Day on the 17th of March 2021 at Ayati which is Sri Lanka’s first national center for children with disabilities.
The chief guest Prof. Harendra De Silva, Emeritus Consultant Pediatrician. Prof. Samanmalee Sumanasena, Professor in Pediatric Disabilities, Prof. Janaki De Silva, Dean Faculty of Medicine-Ragama, Ms. Kasthuri Chellaraja Wilson, CEO of Hemas and Ms. Shiromi Masakorala, General Manager of Group Sustainability & Corporate Communications graced the occasion with their presence.
‘Eka Se Salakamu’ (Treat all alike) a social movement was launched on this day to empower children and families with Down syndrome to lead a dignified life. The ‘Eka se salakamu’ movement aims to promote inclusion and the concept that no child should be left behind.
