Vegetable Gardening Project

Being a leading Green University in the country and as a medical institution, FOM, UOK, understanding its social responsibility in safeguarding food security and nutritional well-being of its community, Green Practices Committee together with Students Green Society, Alumni Association and Center for Sustainability Solutions plans to undertake a vegetable gardening project at the faculty premises.Through this venture we aim to bring faculty community together to face economic crisis and also hope to inculcate the attitudes of social responsibility, volunteerism.

The overall objective is to improve the food security in the faculty community

The specific objectives are,
  • to plant short term harvesting disease resistant vegetable varieties in the faculty premises and continue as sustainable project providing vegetables to the faculty canteen.
  • to train students and staff on home guarding techniques (space management, crop selection, fertilizer and pest care tips etc.).
  • to use above trained individuals as ambassadors to raise awareness on home gardening in  to popularize home gardening among public.
