ABOUT US

University of Kelaniya adopted an environmental policy on 10th December 2014, binding all individuals in the institution to be sustainable and environmentally accountable when conducting institutional activities. University has established the Center for Sustainability Solutions (CSS) to oversee its sustainability activities and individual faculties were encouraged to develop faculty level implementation mechanisms. 

The Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya has established the Green Practice committee (GPC) to plan, implement and oversee its sustainability activities. Being a Faculty of Medicine, good health under all circumstances is our primary concern and therefore we extend our mission beyond the physical borders of the faculty and reach our community with the theme “Sustainability for a healthier future”.

Differently designed petals of the lotus flower represent  biodiversity, purity, fertility and the prosperity of the world. The circle denotes the earth, the rod of asclepius signifies how the earth is protected by medicine and healing through green concept.
