RR Centre - ReduceReuseRecycle
Faculty of Medicine, UOK, Ragama is dedicated to excel in everything we do. After adopting environment policy in 2014, we set out aim to streamline waste management process on campus introducing various policy decision (circular to ban lunch sheet, use of LED bulbs, chemical and clinical waste management policies, etc.) and internalizing good practices (going paperless, paper/glass/plastic recycling, waste segregation, composting, bio gas generation, etc.) on campus. This year, with the impacts of climate change already being felt, we sensed the need of bolder actions and set our waste management goals to “Zero waste on campus”.
Our waste reduction program is based on Reduce, Reuse, Recycle principles and then directing to biogas production and composting. We believe in reduction and reusing before recycling. We believe in changing culture of how we live through community engagements and with our latest project “RR Centre” our community can now save the world while making their lives clutter free.
