The faculty of Medicine University of Kelaniya celebrated the World Environmental day held on 5th June 2025.
The Green Practice Committee of the Faculty, The Students’ Green Society and the Islamic Students’ Society came together to celebrate this day by planting 35 endemic plants around the faculty symbolizing the upcoming 35th year celebrations of the faculty.
In addition, four fruit trees were planted at the Thalagolla Childrens’ Home premises with the participation of the children and undergraduates.
This event was graced by the Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Madawa Chandratilake, Chairperson, Green Practice Society, Prof. Nirmala Perera, academic and non-academic staff members and students of the Green Practice Society and Islamic Society. Vice president of the Islamic Society Mr Aqeeb Javid thanked everyone for their enthusiastic participation. This tiresome but rewarding event ended with refreshments provided by a sponsor.
