The Medical Library of the University of Kelaniya was established in 1991, based on the foundation laid by the library of the North Colombo Medical College (NCMC). The Library's main objective is to fulfill the information needs of academic staff and students of the Faculty of Medicine by providing information resources required for the educational and research programmes of the faculty. The monographs collection mainly consists of medical and health related disciplines, Speech Therapy, Audiology and related disciplines Current periodicals collection consists of print version of 15 subscribed journals and over 25 titles received as donations including local and WHO (World Health Organization) publications. Users can also access to full text online journals through HINARI Health database subscribed by the library.
The Library is kept open on Mondays through Saturdays, except public holidays.

Library Membership
All internal undergraduate and postgraduate students, academic and non-academic staff members of the faculty who wish to borrow books are required to register themselves and get the membership at the library.

Student Membership: Any internal student of this faculty is eligible to be a member of the library. Student membership can be obtained on production of either their University Identity Card or the Student Record Book. Student membership is valid only for one academic year. Students must renew the membership for each academic year.

Staff Membership: Certification from the Head of the Department is necessary for permanent and temporary academic staff members as well as for non-academic staff members to obtain library membership.
