Beach clean-up
Our student-led community initiative joined global and national efforts in minimising microplastic accumulation that leads to micropollutant health hazards.
Organized by Disability Studies Students' Association in collaboration with the Green Practice Committee & Negombo Recycle Club, the project was supported by over two hundred students in the BSc. (Hons) SHS and OT programs over several hours cleared hard plastic in a 3.7km stretch leading to the Besama beach area. An e-certificate was awarded to all participants in appreciation of their contribution and participation. Saving the best for the last, students enjoyed the evening with a bon-fire at the beach.
Many congratulations to the organizing committee, group leaders and all students for their amazing efforts. We are very proud of the leadership, social responsibility and team spirit you showed and are glad you had a break from your hectic academic schedules!
