ANNUAL HEALTH CAMP – 2023

As part of the Annual Health camp organized by The Department of Family Medicine, University of Kelaniya, in collaboration with the local community, the Audiology Unit was also contributed in conducting a hearing screening and counselling station for the participants. The event was held on July 9th, 2023, in Vaharai Maha Vidyalaya, Vaharai in Eastern province. Two audiology lecturers from the university, along with a final year Tamil-speaking audiology student attended the event. Hearing screening including the Adult and pediatric hearing checklists, Otoscopic examination, and Pure tone audiometry (PTA) screening, were carried out on nearly 20 participants to identify hearing and related issues and the team was able to provide necessary counselling and information for their issues. The collaborative effort between The Department of Family Medicine and the Department of Disability Studies, contributed in fostering awareness and early detection of hearing issues, ultimately benefiting the well-being of the participants in the community.
