The detection of infectious diseases causing organisms is important for the initiation of effective treatment and in monitoring response to therapy. At present, direct detection of the parasite genetic material using nucleic acid probes or amplification techniques has become an attractive alternative to other available methods such as microscopy, biochemical and immunodiagnostic tests. Our team at the MMU has developed a set of most advanced and innovative molecular assays which are rapid, simple, yet highly sensitive for diagnosing the following diseases.
