“Lumière 2018” : The Annual Speech Camp

The Annual Speech Camp “Lumière 2018” organized by the English Language Unit of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya in collaboration with MBBS Batch 29 and SHS Batch 10 was successfully held on the 6th of July 2018 at the Pre-Clinical Auditorium in the faculty premises, marking the end of the English Intensive Course. The objective of the “Speech Camp” was to showcase the talents of undergraduates whilst developing their English language competencies.

“Lumière 2018” consisted of two sessions: Game Session and the Stage Performances Session. Nine different language related game stalls were conducted by the undergraduates during the morning session. Followed by, in the evening session, several segments were included in the Stage Performances such as Dramas, Fancy Dress Parade, Singing and dancing items. Undergraduates from MBBS Batch 29 and SHS Batch 10 performed in the evening session unveiling their creativity and aesthetic talents.

The event was graced by Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, Dean, Faculty of Medicine as the chief guest and Prof. Dilkushi Wetteve as the Guest-of-Honour. The Former Head of the Department of Medical Education, Prof. Madawa Chandrathilake and Head of the Department Medical Education, Dr.Pavithra Godamunne and other Academic Staff members of the faculty graced the occasion.
