The launch of the second edition of "Bloom"; students' creative writing collection, compiled by the English Language Unit and the certificate awarding of English Intensive Course – 2014 was held on 11.11.2014 at the Pre Clinical Auditorium. "Bloom" also known as the "blossom of thoughts"; showcases a variety of students' creative writings encouraging students to share their insights with a wider audience. Bloom promoting creativity, contributes to the faculty's vision of producing full pledged medical practitioners, rich with both subject related knowledge and humanness. Two awards were given for selected contributions of students' in recognition of their creative flair. Students who have obtained distinguished results in the end of course exam – English Intensive Course, were also awarded certificates in the ceremony. The event was attended by Professor Janaki Hewavisenthi, Head, English Language unit, Dr. Deepa Gunasekara, Head, Department of Bio-Chemistry and Clinical Chemistry and students of MBBS Batch 25 and SHS Batch 06.
