University of Kelaniya and RemediumOne to host the 53rd ten-day international teaching seminar on cardiovascular disease epidemiology and prevention - 13 to 24 October 2024
The International Society for Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology & Prevention will conduct the 53rd annual ten-day international teaching seminar in partnership with the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), University of Kelaniya and RemediumOne in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 13 to 24 October 2024. The teaching seminar established in 1968 with support from the World Heart Federation aims to address the need for training in cardiovascular disease prevention research particularly for scientists in less developed countries who face challenges in accessing such training due to time and resource constraints.
The residential ten-day seminar will focus on teaching essential epidemiological principles and promoting international collaboration among cardiologists, clinician-scientists, and epidemiologists. In the 52 years since its inception, the seminar has trained 1,600 fellows and 1,800 cardiologists and cardiovascular epidemiologists, many of whom have become national and international leaders in the field and have led some of the most important research and prevention efforts in CVD epidemiology and prevention over the past several decades.
The seminar has a high teaching faculty-to-training fellow ratio, encouraging teamwork. Researchers work closely in small groups led by faculty, tackling real-world research challenges. Many fellows continue research projects from the seminar, often collaborating with fellows from other countries. This year, the seminar is expected to have 40 fellows from numerous countries and 10 distinguished faculty members. As the host country, the seminar council will admit six fellows from Sri Lanka to this program.
RemediumOne and University of Kelaniya are proud and excited to partner ISCEP to conduct the 53rd ten-day international teaching seminar on cardiovascular disease epidemiology and prevention with support from the Sri Lanka College of Cardiology.
The closing date for accepting fellowship applications is 31st of May 2024.
