Establishment of the Photography Society

The inaugural meeting of the Medical Faculty Photography Society was held at the Faculty of Medicine Ragama, on Tuesday, 22nd of June 2015.

Prof. Nilanthi De Silva, (Dean) Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, Dr. Uditha Gayashan Gunesekara, (Senior Lecturer) Department of Fine Arts, University of Kelaniya, Dr. P. Anuruddhi S. Edirisinghe, (Head) Department of Forensic Medicine, Dr. K.T.A. Anuradini Kasturirathna, (Head) Department of Public Health, Mr. Kodithuwakku (Coordinator) Cultural Centre and the members of non-academic staff and undergraduate students of Photography Society were present at the meeting.

A brief introductory speech was done by Prof. Anuruddhi Edirisinghe, explaining the purpose of the meeting. This was followed by the opening speech, which was done by Prof. Nilanthi De Silva.

Dr. Uditha Gayashan Gunesekara delivered a speech on fundamentals of photography, yet introducing the members to the depths of the art of photography.

The committee members of the Photographic Society were appointed at the meeting as follows.

President - Mr. Bhashantha Jayaweera

Secretary – Mr. Suraj Harsha Jayarathne

Treasurer – Miss. Bhadrani Koshila

Senior Advisor – Prof. P. Anuruddhi S. Edirisinghe

Senior Treasurer – Dr. K.T.A. Anuradhini Kasturirathne

Also, seven executive committee members were appointed including non-academic staff and students.

Seconding of the society constitution and implementation of the annual activity plan were amongst the other important activities of the meeting.
