Alcoholic liver disease and circulatory disorders of the liver
At the end of this lecture student should be able to:
- List and describe the spectrum of alcoholic liver disease.
- Describe the pathology of alcoholic liver disease.
- Explain the pathogenesis of fatty liver.
- List the causes for fatty liver.
- Describe the spectrum of non alcoholic fatty liver disease and distinguish it from alcoholic fatty liver disease
- List the circulatory disorders affecting the liver and their pathophysiological basis
Briefly describe the pathology of some of the circulatory disorders affecting the liver – chronic passive congestion, central haemorrhagic necrosis, Budd Chiari syndrome, portal venous obstruction and hepatic veno occlusive disease.
