Microbiology Laboratory
This laboratory provides services such as processing of various clinical specimens for bacterial and fungal cultures and antibiotic sensitivity testing. The specimens that are processed are blood, CSF, urine, sputum, stools, high vaginal swabs, wound swabs and tissues for bacterial cultures, and skin scrapings, nail clippings, hair clippings and skin biopsies for fungal cultures.
It also provides the antibiotics susceptibility testing for bacterial isolates.
The Microbiology laboratory also test water samples for bacteriological analysis. This includes the testing of well water, tap water or bottled water and also water used for dialysate preparation in hemodialysis.
