Training Workshop on Multidisciplinary Approach to Stroke Care, Trincomalee
An interactive hands-on skills training workshop on multi-disciplinary approach to stroke rehabilitation was conducted to mark the World Stroke Day 2014 at the General Hospital, Trincomalee. This workshop was coordinated by the Ragama Stroke Unit, in collaboration with the Ceylon College of Physicians and the Trincomalee Clinical Society.
There were 87 participants, mainly nursing officers from the General Hospital, Trincomalee and several regional hospitals. The workshop was conducted by resource persons from the Ragama Stroke Unit, Ragama Rehabilitation Hospital and General Hospital, Trincomalee.
The emphasis of the workshop was on interactive, small group, hands on training, with the aim of skills development for stroke care. Participants rotated between the training stations of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing care and mental health support.
