Technical visit to All India Institute of Medicine, New Delhi, India by two staff members of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya.
Ms. Janaki Ariyawansa and Mr. R A G P W Rathnayaka, technical officers attached to the department of Physiology at the faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya visited the All India Institute of Medicine (AIIMS), New Delhi, India from the 3rd of September to the 8th of September, 2018. The visit allowed them to gain hands on training in techniques in physiology at the department of Physiology at AIIMS- New Delhi.
Prof. K K Deepak, Head of the department of Physiology, Dr. Dinu S Chandran, Assistant Professor of the Department of Physiology at AIIMS- New Delhi supervised the training. The two staff members were able to learn the new techniques in autonomic function assessment and took part in academic activities at the foreign institute. They gained knowledge that will be useful in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students of the department of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya. In addition, they were able to enjoy the sights and sounds of New Delhi during their short stay. The two staff members are scheduled to conduct a session to introduce the new techniques they learned at AIIMS to the technical officers of the faculty and the academic staff members.
Funding for the training was jointly provided by the India Sri Lanka Foundation and the staff development fund of the University of Kelaniya.
