Vice-Chancellor's Awards 2025: Recognition for Excellence in Parasitology
Prof. Nayana Gunathilaka, Professor in the Department of Parasitology, received the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards, becoming the Outstanding Young Researcher, Faculty of Medicine, 1st place.

He was also awarded gold medals for:
Commendable service rendered to the University in the year 2025 by becoming the world's top 2% scientists according to the list compiled by Stanford University and Elsevier
Bringing honour to the University by winning national/International awards
- Winning the SUSRED award 2025 offered by the National Science Foundation (NSF), Sri Lanka, for supervision of a Ph.D degree
- Winning NRC 7 NRC Merit Awards for scientific publication in high-impact journals offered by the National Research Council, Sri Lanka
Mr. M.A.P. Marasinghe, Lab Attendant (Special Grade), Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine, received Silver Plated Medals and Certificates for 30 Years of Continuous Service under the Long Service Awards category.
