43rd Annual Academic Sessions of College of General Practitioners of Sri Lanka

43rd Annual Academic sessions of the College of General Practioners was held on 15th October 2017 at Water’s Edge.Members of our department actively participated to make the event  success.

Prof. Kumar Mendis (Head and Chair) was the chairperson of the scientific committee appointed this year while Dr.Dinusha Perera held the post of honorary secretary of the committee.

Prof. Janaka Ramanayaka is the chief editor of the college journal the “Sri Lankan Family Physician” of which a current issue was published to coincide with the inauguration ceremony of the congress.

Prof. Kumar Mendis chaired and moderated many sessions including one of the most valued sessions “Vision for primary care in Sri Lanka.

Prof. Janaka Ramanayaka presented a free paper on “Views of radiologists on referral of patients for investigations by GPs; Island wide study among radiologists in Sri lanka”.

Dr. Supun Withana also presented a free paper on “ Patient centred view of primary care morbidity at a teaching hospital in Sri Lanka”.

We were proud that one of our 4th year students Ms. N.A. Gajadeera also presented a free paper on “Migraine associated factors and treatment seeking behavior among 18-60 year old out patient department attendees of Colombo North Teaching Hospital” which sets and examples for our students to take part in these forums in the future.

Throughout the session, our demonstrators did a marvelous job by helping with organizing and coordinating the day.

Finally Farhan and Nadeesha also 4th year students from our faculty helped by acting as the eloquent comperes at the inauguration ceremony .
