New multipurpose building for Faculty of Medicine

The foundation stone was laid for construction of a new multipurpose building at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya on 16th November 2016. The four-storey building is expected to cost around Rs 300 million. It will accommodate a new common room for students, a common room for non-academic staff, a clinical skills laboratory, a Forensic Museum, and several tutorial rooms in addition to the Bursars Office, and new offices for the Departments of Forensic Medicine, Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Pharmacology, Psychiatry and Surgery. Work is expected to be complete in two years. Senior Professor Sunanda Madduma Bandara, Vice Chancellor of University of Kelaniya, Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, the Dean of Faculty of Medicine, the Heads and staff of the Depts concerned, as well as other academic, administrative and non-academic staff participated in the event.
