1. Direct Microscopy - done for skin, nail scrapings, nail and hair clippings, skin and tissue biopsies, pus. Look for yeasts cells and fungal hyphae under microscope high power in KOH
2. Fungal Culture - done for skin, nail scrapings, nail and hair clippings, skin and tissue biopsies, pus. Use special media for growth and then identify the fungal pathogen by special tests.
