Clinical Skills Centre expands with new facilities for teaching
The Clinical Skills Centre, Department of Medical Education, has received high fidelity simulation based teaching material under a Chinese donation scheme. It was coordinated by Ministry of Health and North Colombo Teaching Hospital, Ragama.
The material included an interactive CPR trainers, wound care and first aid simulators and delivery, maternal and neonatal care simulators.
With these material, the Clinical Skills Centre is well equipped to create a safe simulated environment for students to develop their skills in procedures and handling emergencies. This will ultimately results in improving patient care and patient safety.
In addition, biological microscopes with projecting facility and interactive electronic whiteboards were included in this donation which have been handed over to respective departments for use in student teaching.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Sunanda Madduma Bandara recently paid a courtesy visit to the Clinical Skills Centre.
